Look forward to fresh, green shoots of drama, music, dance and comedy at Theatre Royal Winchester this Spring

The spring season at Theatre Royal Winchester is jam-packed full of zesty shows from top-notch drama performances, inspiring music, uplifting dance and a healthy dose of lively comedy to lift your spirits in the New Year.

Drama-lovers will be treated to a modern classic in David Mamet’s Speed The Plow, a gripping portrayal of the money versus art dilemma and an in house production.

It’s set to be a hilarious and scathingly satirical dissection of Hollywood at its most shameless and shameful, and is widely acclaimed as Pulitzer Prize-winner Mamet’s deftest and funniest work, crammed full of brilliant one-liners and chilling insight.  Running from 4-8 March.

Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft’s unforgettable performances in The Graduate are recalled in a brilliant stage adaptation of the Oscar winning film, although obviously both parts have been recast!

When Benjamin Braddock becomes embroiled in a seductive affair with an older woman, he finds himself at a cross-road and discovers that the path to fulfillment is not without its pitfalls.  This show comes to the theatre 30-31January.

Another fantastic production coming to Winchester is the truly Irish, Stones in his Pockets (12-14 March). This award-winning West End play by Marie Jones is laced with raw Irish comedy.  When a major Hollywood film studio descends on a village in rural Ireland, the demand for extras from the local community is huge. As the story unfolds, just two talented actors brilliantly bring to life over fifteen extraordinary characters.

After five fabulous years in the West End and numerous sell out tours, Stones in His Pockets is back to delight audiences across the country this spring. I was lucky enough to catch this production in the big smoke and cannot recommend it enough. Just hilarious.
